Following the Great Rift, the people of what remained of Hendrinka developed a deep fear of magic. The use of powerful artifacts was outlawed, and in some places, even minor spells became a crime. Artifacts and tomes were confiscated and kept under heavy guard at monasteries defended by warriors granted with holy powers.
